My First Path: Get Onboard With My New Journey

I’m so glad you stopped by! I can’t wait to share all the exciting things happening on this new blog and the fantastic content we have in store for you. I think it is more of an adventure—Welcome to Active Appetite! You might be wondering how I came up with that name. With my nutrition and exercise science background, I wanted something unique, vibrant, and friendly. This space is all about connecting with you, sharing heartfelt truths, and providing valuable information that genuinely resonates. Let’s embark on this journey together!
So, who am I? If I were in your shoes, I’d be curious about that, too! Let me share a little bit about myself. I’m a Dietitian and an Exercise Physiologist—an interesting combo, right? My journey into this world kicked off from my love for fitness and a curiosity about how food affects our bodies. You’ve probably heard the saying, “You are what you eat.” That’s what fired up my passion to dive deeper into Nutrition!

On a personal note, my interest in Nutrition also comes from my grandmother’s health battles with diabetes and chronic kidney disease. Growing up in an Indian household, conversations about Nutrition weren’t widespread. I was pretty young—like 7 or 8—when I first learned about diabetes, and I had no idea what it meant back then. It’s wild to think she was only 64 when she passed away. I can still picture her thinking that eating brown sugar would help her health—she would go through packets of it, convinced it was the answer. My parents did everything they could, keeping a close eye on her, making healthy meals, and avoiding processed snacks and sugary foods.

Thinking about my college years, it’s been quite a ride! After jumping between four majors, I discovered I could major in Nutrition. I always knew I wanted to be in science, but I wasn’t sure which path to take. Finally, during my sophomore year, I decided to dive into Nutrition and Dietetics, and it’s been an enlightening experience.

The knowledge I’ve gained over the past couple of years is astonishing! It’s fascinating to see how much nutrition research has evolved and grown. Seeing how much nutrition research has changed and grown is interesting.

You won’t believe how I got into Exercise and Sports Science! I was hooked when I realized how it ties in with Nutrition. It was a game-changer for me to see all the different classes in the program and recognize that even those tiny nutrients we overlook are vital for our bodies. Jumping into all those classes, getting hands-on training, and giving presentations became one of my best choices ever.

You might be curious about what I did next and why I decided to start a blog instead of going straight into a full-time gig, right?

In 2021, after finishing my second master’s degree in Nutrition & Dietetics, I  worked in Cardiopulmonary Rehab at St David’s Medical Center (Austin, Texas) . My main goal was to make sure our patients left with a smile and more knowledge than when they walked in, and honestly, it was such a rewarding experience to see their progress. If I ever get to work in cardiac rehab again, I won’t take no for an answer!
Starting my own business has always been on my bucket list. At first, I had doubts about whether blogging was truly my calling. But then it dawned on me—I have the knowledge and experience, but more importantly, I genuinely want to make a difference in people’s lives.
I believe it’s vital to move beyond just being a healthcare provider; I want to be a friend who truly understands your needs. I want to share with my readers and clients that I’ve faced my struggles, too. None of us are perfect, and my goal is not to change you into someone perfect but to help you embrace who you are while working towards a healthier lifestyle. We’re in this together!

What will my future blog post entail?

I’m excited to keep you updated on the latest in Nutrition and how it impacts our bodies! I want to dive deep into Nutrition’s mechanisms and explore the “WHY” behind the research. Nutrition makes you shine. My readers are my top priority, so I’m all ears for any suggestions or feedback on the topics you’d love to read about. I will also be offering an initial and follow-up consultation to help you embark upon this adventure.

I’m sharing this to give you a glimpse into my life and to connect with you on a genuine level. Our experiences shape who we are, and I’m here to support you on your health journeysLet’s learn, grow, and navigate this journey together!
